The Canadian Astronomical Society’s (CASCA) Graduate Student Committee (GSC) is hosting the Graduate Student Workshop during the CASCA Annual General Meeting on Monday, June 3, 2024, at York University’s Vari Hall, Lecture room A. Although the workshop is tailored for graduate students, undergraduate students are welcome to attend. We will also make the sessions accessible remotely via Zoom (details below). We look forward to seeing many of you!

10:00-11:00am | How to CASCATO + Peer Networking | In this session, we’ll have the opportunity to set the stage for the CASCATO AGM we want to have. Through interactive discussions and open sharing, we’ll forge connections and foster a sense of community as today’s cohort of astronomy graduate students in Canada. The goal is to ensure everyone feels connected, and to share ways to not only navigate but also create a conference environment together in which everyone can thrive, ahead of a packed three days of conference activities. |

11:15am-12:15pm | Insights Beyond Academia | Join us to hear from invited speakers from career paths outside of academia on what doors astronomy degrees can open. We will hear from perspectives from industry (Mubdi Rahman) and outreach (Ilana MacDonald) on what skills are best to hone for success both within and outside academia. |

During this session, the board members will be available to answer any questions that graduate students may have about anything related to CASCA.
