The Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics (WCA) at the University of Waterloo invites applications for one 3-year WCA Postdoctoral Fellowship in any area of astrophysics and one Postdoctoral Research Associate focussing on studies of Large-Scale Structure. The recently formed Centre consists of 13 research-active faculty members, and has active visitor and meeting programs. Canada Research Chair (Tier II) Multi-Messenger Astrophysics

Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke, Quebec (www.ubishops.ca) has an opening for a tenure-stream Tier II Canada Research Chair position in multi-messenger astrophysics. The CRC program was created by the Government of Canada to cultivate world-class research and development. We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position to contribute
to the development of the FGS/NIRISS – Fine Guidance Sensor/Near-Infrared
Imager and Slitless Spectrograph,

instrument onboard the James Webb Space telescope (JWST) funded by the
Canadian Space Agency.

The successful candidate, based out of the Physics Department at the
Université de Montréal, is expected to play a leading role at a level of
80% of their time in the development of the NIRISS instrument, more
specifically for data pipeline development, data analysis and simulation
tools. We are also seeking a candidate with solid experience in exoplanet
research. The successful candidate may use up to 20% of their time to
conduct independent research programs related to exoplanets.

The successful candidate will ideally have a PhD in physics, astronomy or
other related field with a strong background in the development of
complex data pipelines for ground- and/or space-based instruments along
with experience in exoplanet research. Candidates with a M.Sc. and very
strong experience will be considered. The initial term of employment is
for two years and is renewable annually, subject to performance and
availability of funding.

Post Doctoral Fellow in Data-science applied to Astrophysics and Particle Astrophysics

The Arthur B. McDonald Canadian Astroparticle Physics Research Institute at Queen’s University (https://mcdonaldinstitute.ca) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the application of data science to particle astrophysics and astrophysics. The successful candidate will have an interest and expertise in the use of advanced statistical techniques, such as machine learning, to model data from particle astrophysics experiments and/or observational astronomy. The successful candidate will collaborate with members of the Queen’s Particle Astrophysics group and serve as a central point of contact for the coordinated implementation of data science techniques across the broad range of experiments in which the group participates.
