CASCA is the acronym for the Canadian Astronomical Society. In 1998, a new committee was formed within CASCA -- the Graduate Student Committee, or GSC. We exist to reflect the views of and address issues important to graduate students across Canada. The GSC consists of representatives of each institution in Canada which has a graduate program in astronomy and chooses to participate. Click here to find the representative at your institution. If you are a member of a department without representation on the GSC, contact us and get involved! The current Chair of the GSC is Jacqueline Otaguro (University of Western Ontario). The job of the Chair is to represent the views and concerns of the committee to the CASCA Board of Directors.

The GSC maintains a list of all current astronomy and astrophysics graduate students in Canada. Looking for the inside scoop on graduate life in any department? Talk to current and previous students. Are you a new graduate student? Contact us and we'll add you to our directory!

A general meeting of the graduate student community takes place during the annual CASCA meetings. To find out what we talked about at the last meeting, check out the minutes on the documents page. The 2009 CASCA meeting was held Toronto, Ontario at The University of Toronto. The upcoming meeting in 2010 will take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia at Saint Mary's University and will run May 24 through 27.

Graduate Students make regular contributions to the Quarterly publication of CASCA: Cassiopeia, now exclusively available on the Web.
